If you are worried that the strength of this rope is too strong, you can try another rope with a diameter of 12mm, which is slightly weaker.

Q: Are those plungers on this slip lead and why are there 2 ?

They are stoppers/adjusters to secure the collar size you designate. Why there are 2 escapes me. It is obvious that whoever designed this lead was not a true dog handler. Slip leads are meant to be simple and straightforward. My advice to company is to remove one of the stoppers and decrease size of the handle by half.
