How do you wash these?

It is important to note thought that they CANNOT BE SUBMERGEDIN WATER. The long answer, and best way to clean them (in my opinion) is to do the following:

1. Fill a bowl with soapy water
2. Using a firm scrub brush, dip the scrub brush into the water and scrub each side of the file to remove the dust and debris NOTE: DO NOT use so much soapy water that you soak the files - the goal is to let the soapy water assist in removing the dust and debris on the files
3. After scrubbing each side, lay them flat on a clean towel
4. Get a spray bottle and make a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water a 1:1 solution (50% water/50% rubbing alcohol) is what you'll want to use as your disinfecting solution NOTE: You can also use bleach instead of rubbing alcohol; the mixture ratio would still be 1:1 if choosing bleach 
5. Move the files to a new clean towel and lay them flat 
6. Using the disinfectant solution, spray the files individually,  try to spray the sides of the files as well, flip them to the other side and spray the other side
7. Allow the files to air dry; once dry, they will be ready to use again!

It seems like a tedious process, but it should extend the life of your files and keep them from accumulating dust and debris. Hope this helps!

They are approximately 7 inches long.  I LOVE them!  Best emery boards I've ever used.
