Puzzle is assembled without glue. buying this set you get a complete set for building a model.

Q: Dimensions says 37.5 x 17 x 3 inches. but it doesnt appear 3ft large in review pics. can someone post the approx assembled size? thank you.

The size was listed incorrectly. Assembled model size is 8.4 x 7.4 x 3 in. Packaged kit size is 14.6 x 6.7 x 1.2 in

This has very fine and small parts but Yes this could be painted or stained.

Q: Is anyone having a problem with the toothpicks being too short?

Yes. I went to the local grocery store and bought some toothpicks that were a tad bit longer. The new toothpicks worked great.
