Q: Will these work one handed?

Yes, they can cut one-handed - in fact seem to me to cut more easily because they're very sharp; but because of the wide jaw you're going to want to use the other hand to be sure you steady the toe and the nail you're cutting and don't cut a gouge out of your skin.

Q: "15mm wide" is deceptive - this is the how high the jaw opens. I am seeking a trimmer that is actually 15cm wide...any suggestions?

I have very, very thick toenails and this is the best. This opens wide enough to cut you toe off, if you want to. I don't think you will find any thing better. I have been searching for years and have all kind of trimmers. This is a winner!!!!

I used them on fingernails when I couldn’t find my other clippers. You have to be careful, though, as they are designed to go deeper than regular clippers.

Q: Does this or does it not come with a file? Several pictures show a file but one comment said it didn't come with one.

Mine came with some sort of rasp but I wouldn't say it was a file. The clippers work very well.
