No, oil will not damage it , oil can be wiped from the surface with wet cloth, or can be machine washed.It is made of smooth fabric.

Q: Is this cover machine washable?

I’ve had mine for over 2 years & wash it regularly in the machine. I use the delicate cycle & then the same setting on the dryer. I always take it out of dryer & hang up to finish drying. It’s been my experience with these types of covers that the dryer is where mine have gotten damaged. It’s still like new!
