Q: How heavy is the shade? I want to use it for an interior french door but don't want to install using anything that will damage the door.

the shade is very light. The bottom of the shade is made of a metal like material. I currently am using magnets at the base of the metal to have it stay in place so it doesnt hit the glass.

Q: Can you increase the tension on the shade roller? I have two identical blinds and one has less tension than the other and bogs down when raising it.

I don't know about adjusting the tension. I only have one blind.

Q: Do these work with rollease mechanism if I just want to replace my other shades and keep existing mechanism?

Depending on the size of your rollease mechanism. The mechanisms looks virtually identical to the rollease mechanisms (clutch gears) , but they also come in different sizes. I bought 3 of these shades, and they are just awesome and beautiful for the colors/shading I needed. I bought 2 for the living room and one for a very small window, and they fit perfectly. It does not use a cord or a chain, but just a springlike maneuver. Hope this helps.
