Updated review!
December 2023: it’s now a to 5 star review! The new cookie press has held up nicely so far. I literally only use it in December to make cookies for Christmas and it’s held up for 2 baking seasons! The discs are sturdy! The shapes come out nicely! December 2022 After washing, using and washing again, some silver came off the top. Didn’t notice until the second wash after using. I did love the cookie gun and am having them send me another one and returning this one. It is super easy to use and the discs are metal, not the cheap, flimsy plastic. I can’t tell you how many of the plastic ones I’ve been through over the years where the discs just crack. These are very sturdy and definitely worth the extra $10 over the cookie guns with the plastic discs! UPDATE: I sent it back and had a new one on my doorstep the next day!! Excellent customer service. I haven’t used it yet but hopefully all goes well with this one!

Mine did not work
I bought this a couple years ago and tried using. It wouldn’t work. I decided to try again today. Most frustrating contraption ever. Dough was fine but every time I tried to click the handle the entire top popped off and I had to hold down the top…something is defective about this one.

works good for pressed cookies. heavy material, not cheap and flimsy
works good. sometimes the cookie doesn’t press out and you have to mess with it. also one pump will make a small cookie. you almost have to do 2 pumps and then they lose some of their shape worth the price if you love these cookies. washes up easy and simple to put together

Perfect spritz cookies every time
I'm so glad I didn't pay attention to the reviews. It does take a bit of practice to understand how to use the cookie press but once you learn it's so easy. I didn't use the recipe that comes with the cookie press, instead I used the one from Sally's Baking Addiction because I was already baking when I saw the little recipe book that comes with it. Cleaning it's easy because you can remove all the parts. I ordered it late September and today is November 30th, all I can say is that it's very easy to bake perfectly shaped and buttery cookies and I have used it many times. The picture I included is of my first time using the cookie press, after the third cookie you get how to use it.

very disappointed with this product
This is the worst press set and I was very disappointed in a Wilton product. I have tried it twice and it disappointed me twice. This year I threw it in the trash cookie dough and all. It's nearly impossible to screw, the threads don't quite match, the discs didn't fit and there was no Christmas tree disc, the one that we wanted to use the most. This year I gave it one more chance and it broke as we were using the press.

I will never use cookie cutters again!
Cookies cutter (rolled) cookies are THE biggest PITA. My mom made beautiful spritz cookies with this, so I bought one. I made beautiful dairy/egg free cookies for my son. The whole family loves them. We all love using this tool too! I will never make cookie cutter cookies again. I'd love to get even more of the discs! The only con is that finish has begun chipping off the handle despite being handwashed. The handle appears to be cheap cast pot metal so the paint is probably covering the ugly metal. The flaking pot metal surfaces don't come into direct contact with the dough (might transfer on your hands though). I'd pay more for all stainless steel metal components but that would probably make the product too costly to be competitive. Tips that helped me: 1. Apply directly to pan ( I used SS jelly toll pan with no oil) 2. Don't apply to pan that's too hot - they won't stick and dough just smashes inside tool 3. 2 squeezes once air is pushed out works best 4. The vertical line one makes long strips. If you pump it twice like the others, it makes a cookie that looks like gnocchi. 5. Roll the dough into a cylinder and then tap to get it all in and pushed down. Wilton’s Spritz Cookies (Dairy/Egg/Nut Free) 1 ½ cups vegan butter (3 sticks), softened 1 cup granulated sugar 2 oz applesauce 2-4 tablespoons milk alternative (enough liquid to make consistency that will pump out) 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 teaspoon baking powder 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour Spritz directly onto jelly roll pan. Bake for 12-12 ½ min on 350 convection.

Broke after only 4 times using it.
I only use this cookie press at Christmas time. I’ve used it 4 times since I purchased it and it won’t work correctly. The plunger is cracked and the base is hard to put on and take off. It’s never been a good press, but it’s all I have.

Excellent customer service from Wilton
Perfect!

This type of cookie press works only on plain dough. If you have chopped dried fruits. chocolate chips, chopped nut or anything add on larger than a grain, you are better off making free form cookies.

It works! Needed to press the handle twice, which was not in the directions, but eventually got the rhythm
