Q: Can this be used for one in, two out instead? I am looking to alternate between the headphone and the speakers. Thank you.

I use it for the same thing, but on a computer where it is one line for speakers and one line for headphones. Works great.

Q: Has anyone else discovered cross-talk when two active computers are sourcing the audio?

I have. Once I got a slightly better pair of (powered) speakers, it seems as though I get some significant feedback. I tried switching the stereo cables to shielded cables thinking there was interference from them. But now I'm looking at alternative A/B switches.

Q: Does this product switch the ground connection between the inputs or just the right/left channels? In other words, does it use a common ground?

It only switches the left and right signals the grounds are joined together. The switch itself is a six pin dpdt

Q: Use as headset inline mic muter? (Only on mic wire that is separate from stereo wire) So I would be switching headset b/t mic and no connection.

This is a 3-wire switcher, two sources in to one out. I use it for two stereo sources feeding into a headset, allowing me to switch between live audio input and post-processed audio. If your mic is on a separate connection from your headphones, I see no reason that it wouldn't work for your application.
