Core Surgery Interview: The Definitive Guide With Over 500 Interview Questions For Core Surgical Training Interviews: 2 (Ct/St Medical Interview Guides)

I used this book last year for the interviews and it is without doubt the most useful and specific for core surgery interviews (I got my first choice job after using this book and attending a local interview course). The book is divided into four sections. The first covers generic interview technique and then subsequent sections cover each of the core surgery interview stations (portfolio, clinical and management). One thing you might not appreciate from the picture and listing is that the book uses 'tabs' that divide the chapters making it really easy to quickly jump between the different sections (see picture). It is A5 in size. The examples and explanations are realistic and it is much more specific to core surgery than other medical interview books.

A great booster to have for CST interview. The first bits on portfolio aren't useful due to changes in the interview format as of 2025 even with the reintroduction of the portfolio section in the interview, although it may give you some ideas for how to sell yourself during your 3 minute presentation. The most useful bits are the clinical and ethical scenarios, it gives quite a wide variety for both categories. The clinical scenarios also offers some curveballs which is good to prepare for in case they try to through you off with a none-routine scenario in the interview. The most useful was the ethical scenarios, my friends and I were solely practising based off of the book for this, even in favour of the medibuddy/medset scenarios. It's a very competitive price and does not run out like a subscription like with medibuddy/medset. After you are done you can gift it to your friends who will be applying in the future (or sell it)! :)

Great book! Covered all the aspects of the interview ! Much better than the anaesthetics one !
