The rubber strap is better, as you can get them a little snugger and they do not fall off easily in swims. I have had these versions pop off on a few occasions

While I loved my RK3’s, they were not helping with my floating feet problem. I didn’t like the idea of ankle weights. These are negatively buoyant and my problem has resolved.The negative is sizing runs small. In the RK3’s and other brands I wear a medium, I had to size up to a large for these.
