Nothing works forever, it depends on how long you use it.....I don't see any warranty.

Yes, the USB cord disconnects from the base so you could plug it into any USB port. I plug mine directly into my lamp. It also has a battery compartment if you want to use with batteries. I used cheap batteries and they still lasted for about a week.

Q: What is the length of the power cord?

The cord is 4 feet but it can also operate on batteries for travel. Works awesome.
