Gale Force Nine - Aliens: Another Glorious Day in The Corps: Ultimate Badasses Expansion

Perfect
I bought these on a whim to use in the alien rpg and ended up coming back to buy the rest of the sets. So far the only one I've painted is the power loader. They are spru- style miniatures that do need assembly (warhammer comparable) and require plastic glue. The detail is all there and assembly is easy if you have done it before. Someone who has never put together minis like these may have a rough time.My only complaint is that they are cast in green and not grey but that's just me nit-picking.For the record I don't actually have the board game, but I understand that all these minis come in the game and game expansions.I love these minis and I highly recommend them for any ttrpg player or alien fan. There's nothing like dropping twenty xenos on the board and seeing the doomed look on your players faces.

High quality requires assembly
Requires base game. Pieces require assembly. If you aren't used to assembling small models, don't use scissors to cut out, use an xacto knife or something like Klein Tools D275-5 Pliers (but cheap version). Need a small file or xacto blade to clean up where you cut. Need super glue with fine dispensing head and instant hardner to vastly reduce assembly time (get one with a brush applicator and not a spray or you'll waste a lot).

Alien Queen
The details of the pieces are VERY good. The Alien Queen is not difficult at all to put together. It is pretty much self explanatory, but just in case, the assembly instructions are very easy to follow. Beginning/ novice modelers should have no trouble assembling this. Also... just in case you are curious about the SIZE of these figures, they are the same height as a standard D&D, Ogre sized mini. (Large).

Experience, A Soldier's Greatest Ally
"Aliens: Ultimate Badasses" is a must have expansion if you expect to survive any mission, not to mention a campaign.I was feeling pretty satisfied with myself, almost had the first mission objective completed with my squad nearing the exit--but those Xenomorphs, one by one, spawning in huge swarms near the exit began knocking my characters off. The "Experience Cards" in "Ultimate Badasses" are for moments like these--there is a "Hero" card which allows for re-rolling a failed defense roll, a "Tracker" card allows its character the chance to view a blip, while a "Gunner" card allows for taking an "AIM" action prior to firing. These cards will give you just enough hope to win scary situations! The "Experience Cards" will assist you in levelling up your characters during campaigns, while the extra six squad members (Sgt. Al Apone, Pvt. Trevor Wierzbowski, Pvt. Mark Drake, Cpl. Cynthia Dietrich, Pvt. Tim Crowe, and Carter Burke) come in handy as characters are killed off. Some characters have technical strength, others are more suited to heavy artillery combat, and higher ranking officers can "activate" and control more grunts--choosing your squad wisely is important, though every character adds to the game. I'll admit, I hate even playing that greedy corporate rat Carter Burke--takes me back to the movie, provoking my disgust for that jerk, but you can always use him as a target haha!I've written another review where I speak of the game components, and how you shouldn't let inexperience with assembling models scare you away from this game! "Another Glorious Day In The Corps" is my first model assembling experience, and I survived to say this is an AWESOME game! The components are sturdy and will last. The figures are detailed, they remind you that you're at war with the most terrifying monsters you'll ever face, but that you have the tools to beat them!"Another Glorious Day In The Corps" is a unique rpg experience, it is intense, you'll feel your hair stand up when swarms spawn, and you'll feel the same level of heightened surprise and emotion you get when playing Aliens video games. I definitely recommend adding "Aliens: Ultimate Badasses" to your base game for added depth, and for some great cards which will strengthen your characters!

extreme difficult to build
i was excited to get this; maybe too excited because i might have over looked the fact of "some assembly required"The plastic quality is great, strong.but the instructions are lacking - do i need glue because these are not snap-on kits, i looked all around the box and simple fold out sheet - no mention of glue. I have only tried one alien combination and after two hours i am shaking my head ... this is not the way;i have three weeks to go before my return window closes and i purchased the other two kits as well; if this fails i will return all three

I love these pieces
I use them for Nemesis and they work great. They paint up nicely. It does make me want to check out the Aliens board game.OVERALL:Great pieces that add to the 3D tactile effect to enhance multiple games.

Great way to fancy up the boards
While not needed to play the game, these add some nice effects to the board as you move marines and aliens around. If I have to name one negative, they only one is that it only comes with 2 face huggers and while they look great, they are very fragile and can break off their bases easily. Knowing this I glued mine flat on the base like they are crawling.

Not worth the money
First, it showed up in a crushed box because the shippers placed it in a bag instead of a box. 2nd, the miniature is small, frail, and very cheaply made for the cost.

Get away from her you b***h!
Get away from her you b***h! is an expansion to the Aliens: Another Glorious Day in the Corps! core game, and you will need the core box set to be able to use it.The expansion offers five expanded missions for a longer, more involving, campaign, five new "bug hunt"missions, and extras that allow one player to play as the alien hive.Included in the box are:4 x double sided game boards25 x endurance cards25 x motion tracker cards1 x alien willpower dial31 x hive mind cards11 x mission cards21 x blip tokens8 x alien queen damage tokens1 x power loader stats overlay2 x character cards2 x aim dials1 x M577 APC card6 x APC damage tokens5 x character modelsThe models included in this expansion are the alien queen, the P-5000 power loader, "enraged" Ripley, Bishop, and Broken Bishop. The rules contained within allow you to extend the main campaign from three to five missions with bigger playing areas, provide the opportunity for bigger bug hunt missions and increase your team from six to eight characters, have a mission for the iconic APC escape scene from the movie, rules for synthetic characters, and allow you to play as the alien hive including the alien queen. When playing as the aliens you are able to use willpower to exert your influence over them and force them to act in a defined way rather than the regulated manner in which they usually move and attack. You also have access to a number of "hive mind" cards that can be drawn and fall into three categories: "Nature", which provides a continuous and on going effect. "Instinct", which provide single use effects such as forcing someone subject to a face hugger attack to roll against their defence or be killed by a chest buster. "Reaction", which can only be played in the circumstances defined by the card.Operating the power loader can be done by any character, with that character receiving a boost to their defensive and melee stats and also providing them with a unique attack that allows them to not only swat entire swarms of aliens but also go toe to toe with the alien queen, and is also the only way you can ultimately destroy the queen by dropping her through the air lock doors. The APC template is used between missions 2 (The atmosphere processor) and 3 (defending operations) as you attempt to escape the alien hive with the remains of your team, pursued and attacked by alien warriors as you go. The APC has several crew positions, including driver, front and rear gunners, door gunner, scanner, and repair, each of which allows the character occupying that space to conduct a unique action such as shooting encroaching aliens, increasing the speed of the APC, repairing damage, or looking at blip tokens to see what threat lies ahead. Hopefully you can escape without blowing the trans-axel!Synthetics operate different to normal characters. Whilst Bishop cannot attack, he has strengths and abilities of his own including an exceptional skill with tech tests, being immune to hive hazards, and not attracting aliens n the same way human characters do.In terms of complaints there's not much to moan about here.Models are multi part and require some gluing and assembly - the Queen and Power loader being a little more complicated - and the core game really isn't the same or as good without buying this and the "Ultimate Bad asses" expansion, but it's well worth the purchase and together helps to form what really is the most accurate, atmospheric, tense, and authentic Aliens gaming experience I've ever seen.

Mostly very good
Brought 2 packs for necromunda 95. I have been collecting tabletop wargames on and off for 30 years and probably put together and painted close to 1000 miniatures in that time. So I'm experienced and have everything I need too handTools needed.Sprue clippers/craft knifePolystyrene cementSmall filesThe overall good pointsSurprisingly heavy, thick cast plasticNice clear detailsCasting lines are not too badVery accurate to the filmThe overall bad pointsSome of them could do with a bit detail/looks a bit plain in partsThe break individual downThe cratesGoodNice and fitting the thematic feelOnly 1 part clip and there ready to paint/useBadcasing lines are running through the ridges so hard to cleanCould do with handles each side, they look too big and heavy to pick up without themThe computersGoodVery fitting to the 80s/90s sci fi future feel/close to the filmVery clear keyboardEasy to put together just 2 parts that fit together very nicelyBadcould really do with more interesting details very plain overallThe eggsGoodReally nice details and lots of them3 well fitting parts dead easy to put togetherThe base only fits property 1 way round so quite idiot proofBadNoneThe gunsGoodLook great. Spot on for the filmBadVery fragile legsVery Poorly positioned sprue connection to the legs, makes it awkward to clip and could easily brake if not careful enough, not a problem for me with my experience but could easily be a big problem for other people. I actually knocked of 1 star just for this it's that badClip top 2 before the bottom 2 to minimise riskThis it's such a jump in difficulty the rest is very begginer friendly but the guns are very much intermediateThe face huggersGoodgreat detail spot on for the filmBadWould be very easy to break the tail with rough handling/poor storageThe connection hole needs to be made deeper to fit properly (very common but worth noting)OverallGreat little kit at a really good price. A little disappointing with the lack of detail on the computers but really good everywhere else, but location of the sprue on the legs of the guns are just bad should have been on the side not the feet made a much easier/cleaner cutI would definitely recommend overall

Essential add on to complete the story
I bought this alongside the base game and I had the intention of putting the parts all together from the start. My negatives would be probably the value for the cost of the box. It only comes with five models. I felt that the ultimate badasses expansion should have been included in this box. As before, the pieces need to be assembled so it cannot be easily played out of the box. However, the quality of the models are better this time around and although painting the models isn’t essential - it is really great to see the Queen and power loader put together and finished. They are very sturdy pieces and significantly less fragile than the regular aliens. I do find the human faces lacking detail and makes them tricky to paint and ink etc but this won’t be an issue for most people who either won’t paint at all or are much better at painting than me.The rest of the components are really good. The new tiles are brilliantly detailed and sturdy. There are more missions than just the two story levels and it really helps the game be more thematic. There are alternate mission cards for extra replay and rules for driving the APC. I personally think that this is an essential expansion for the main game and personally I feel that the main game (and story) is incomplete without this.

Fiddly
All the pieces come attached to a frame, and without cutters some are difficult to get off without breaking them...take your time. As you break them off the spurs many of the pieces are left with a white mark showing through the grey plastic.Trying to glue the Facehugger, and the Auto-gun to their stands is very fiddly as they both have very fine plastic bits. The Facehugger would have been easier to glue had the whole tail been part of the rest of the body, but part of it is pre-fixed to the base stand...not convinced these piece will hold together if you attempt to paint it.

Aliens fans will love this
A great add on for the game. Hubby taking his time painting them to his usual high standards. He loves aliens and we love playing this game as a family with the aliens soundtrack playing on Alexa. Big geeks! No shame!
