works well with Big Green Egg
These starters work extremely well. I use them in my Big Green Egg smoker to get the lump charcoal going, and they light quickly and consistently every time. Easily the best fire starters I’ve used in a long while—reliable, effective, and hassle-free. They’ve definitely become my go-to for firing up the grill.

Natural fire starter that gets the job done well
I love that these feel more natural then most other starter logs that feel loaded down with chemicals. We have a high efficiency wood burning fireplace and we frequently use it to heat it whole home all day. Starting a fire is as simple as letting down some scrap paper, adding cardboard on top of if that, then one of these starters pieces in the cardboard and snuggling the starter in between two full size logs. No other kindling. The starters don't burn forever, but they catch fire easily and burn long enough to get dry pine logs going into a nice fire. They seem like great quality and the starters will probably last me for about 4 years if I burn 90 fires a year and only need to use one per fire. Feels like great value for the money to me.

Perfect grill starters!
I used these all summer to start my charcoal kettle grill. They worked great! I typically used 2-3, but that was probably unnecessary, as they burn for 10 minutes or so each! With 185 pieces in total, it's definitely easy to use just a few at a time. I didn't specifically count them, but there are absolutely a lot of them! Essentially, they are basically shredded bamboo pieces glued together with a kind of white substance, which I believe is simply paraffin wax. Easy to lite and they burn clean. They do smoke if you don't break them apart a bit before lighting, but that appears to just be because of how tightly wound they are otherwise (they smoke from lack of oxygen). The box they come in is great and has an opening for easily getting a few out when needed. When I run out, eventually, I will order more.

Pricey but is a quality product.
Seems like a quality product but felt overpriced. Sourced from the Ukraine. Makes me believe that too much of the cost is in the shipping. I mention this because it is something that could easily be made in the USA. No complaints about the quality however.

Work great
Excellent product! They burn clean, hot, and long enough to start a decent size piece of wood. These have saved me a lot of time.

Work great
These all seem to be a consistent size. The burn time is good and burns well. This was a good value for the money. I use these in my wood stove, to start charcoal for my grill and to start my smoker. They have worked really well. I would recommend these.

Best so Far
I've purchsed a few haystack brands and this is probably the best so far. They are a little fluffier (not as tightly wound) than some and that actually works to an advantage. They light exceptionally easy and burn very hot, possibly not as long, but the hot parts gets kindling and logs going quite well. Buying more.
