Yes, this is. I know that because somehow I got it accidentally and now my kid can't download DLC because it's "not available" in our area.

Q: I haven't played this game since the Nintendo 64 days. Is this something one can play without having to play the other ones that have come out since?

Yes. Much different battle mechanics though and even though we’ve played all of the Final Fantasy games, it made no difference with playing this one

No, it is not the entire game. Square apparently said that they want to do the original game justice, and since the original was three whole disks long, they decided to break the remake up into separate games. Don't feel like you're losing anything though, since even without the extras you can purchase, it's still 80 gb of content. The graphics are amazing and the story so far is fun, especially the combat. Really, my only complaint so far, and it's a minor one, is that they changed some of the story a bit. Other than that, I've had a lot of fun playing a really great remake so far.
