Window Plug for road noise
I bought this to make a window plug for my bedroom window. My neighbor has been terrorizing the neighborhood for months with his HEMI engine at all hours, and this is my last ditch effort to try and get a full night's sleep.I had tried butyl on posterboard first, but it was a major failure. The butyl was way too heavy and didn't provide the sound dampening I needed or expected. Ended up being a complete waste of money. Not something I would recommend for anyone trying to build a window plug, unless you're using wood (not cardboard) and are prepared for a heavy lifting session every time you put the plug in the window. This acoustic foam ended up doing the job way better and makes a much lighter weight plug. I took the extra step of sealing off the edges of the window with gaffer tape, and between that and the foam plug I haven't been awakened by street noise.I used the recommended 3M mounting tape to install the foam vertically onto posterboard the height of the window (36"). I positioned the product as such that foam protrudes from either edge, to make up for the fact that the window is 51" wide but the posterboard is only 48" wide.I had to trim the foam a little bit, and use the scraps to fill up any gaps or cracks when I lift the plug into the window each night. My bedroom is almost completely light tight and so far I haven't been awakened by the demon car since using this setup.🤞🏻I'm giving 4 stars because it isn't perfect, but it's close.I'll update if anything changes.UPDATE: It's been a few weeks and this stuff has completely changed my sleep. I am no longer awakened at all by street noise or the demon car! Increasing to 5 stars because it did what I bought it to do.

Great product with proper installation
I read a lot of reviews about this product not doing its job. You have to install this product air tight, meaning overlapping it and using zip ties. I only wrapped the Abs pipes since they are the loudest. By doing so, I reduced around 70-75% of the flush sound. I also put rockwool sound and safe insulation plus the 5/8 purple drywall. The sound reduction is about 90-95%. You practically cannot hear flush noice unless you get close to the wall and put your ear on it. Great stuff I would recommend

Not recommended
Small piece, hard rubber on the back, difficult to cut/fold/align. For the price they charge for such small piece. Weird combination of material, very limited purpose/use. I purchased to fill in some space for sound block and regret buy it, it does not bend and doesn’t eliminate sound. Waste of money.

Overall, this is a great product
I am using this product in a different way than most users. Insulating noise from my pool pump/motor.We just burned one out, and replaced it with a new one. My wife has complained about how loud this motor is, and for reasons not worth going into, we decided that I would try to quiet it down rather than try to get a quieter motor. Declarations- we own a pool cleaning company, and I have been to thousands of pools, all with different equipment, so I am no novice to pool motor noise levels. Additionally, in my younger years as a sound technician for H H Scott receivers and speakers for 7 years, and having spent hundreds of hours in a professionally designed sound room listening to the Beattles while testing speaker systems, I am no stranger to decibels. So my goal was to reduce the unwanted noise by 50%. Average measurement before sound insulation was 54 decibels from the wife's favorite lounger. After insulating, I got about 50.2. It is difficult to measure because I live near a lively boat lake, an airport, and a highway.but overall, I got a 40% pump noise reduction. I'm happy.

It blocks a little sound
I have a Black and Decker washer, and I needed to make it quieter since I live in an apartment. I used 4 of these around it, and it blocks some noise but should be better for the price.

Yes, it's pricey but if used correctly it works!
We have a noisy sump pump. It was more vibrations through the floor boards than actual sound. My husband wrapped the drain pipe with the product, turquoise side to the pipe, black side facing out, and don't make it too tight! Wrapped it with zip ties. Made a big difference. With left over, he stapled it to the ceiling in the basement right above the sump pump between the joists. Even bigger difference. We will be ordering more to complete the job. You don't get a lot for your $$ but it makes a big difference in 2 of our bedrooms. Very well worth the price. Nothing else we have done came close.

Sound
The product is ok, but you have to double the thickness to get the proper sound cancellation.

Get rid of that noise!!!
I couldn't be more pleased with this product, it lets me sleep well at night. Here is the thing, I have my kids bathroom adjoining our master bedroom, with their faucets in the wall between. Despite telling them to shower early, they would invariably get into the shower late in the night (yea, teenagers, right??), and the loud noise from the faucet would really disturb my sleep. Very annoying. Well, recently we had to open the wall to detect a leak (story for another day), that's when I saw the opportunity to insert sound proofing around the faucet and found this product on Amazon. Frankly, I wasn't expecting it to make a big difference, but lo and behold, after the installation and sealing the wall, the loud rumble of the faucets is reduced to a faint muffle that is hardly noticeable. Wow! I can sleep again at night, and best of all, don't have to get into a fight with my kids about when they should use the shower :)))).
