Yes, real SYNTHETIC amethyst, meaning not from the Earth, but synthetically made in a lab- as most precious stones nowadays including diamonds. Do your research and pay attention to the word choice of the seller. "Real" doesn't necessarily mean organic. Knowledge is power.

It might be easier to buy smaller pieces as you would need a rock saw. There are rock saws for sale in the Amazon site I'm sure.
