Multibao USB to IDE/SATA Adapter SATA/PATA/IDE to USB2.0 Converter Cable Adapter for 2.5/3.5 Hard Drive Disk

I have a few hard drives from various old laptops that are still a useful size and bought the adapter to be able to put them to use. Works well and saved the drives from going to landfill. Also meant I could check and reformat any not used. Well worth the money.

As an interface, it worked first time allowing me to access the contents on an old 3.5 PATA hard drive using a laptop. Unfortunately, I had to source a separate power supply (I used an old desktop power supply that I had). Many of the far more expensive adapters come with a power supply which is why this one is cheap.

I had a number of old SATA hard disks from old p.c.s that I found in the loft with no way of accessing any data. This kit is simple and helped me find a huge amount of old photos from years ago that I had forgotten we had. Easy to use.

This was a useful kit when I had some old IDE drives to test. The length of cable meant I had to run an extension lead to my desk to test them but they worked perfectly unlike as it turned out the drives I had hanging around. It does now feel that the kit is a little pricey for what is redundant technology but for me, it was useful to test the drives to see if any of them were of use. As I say, the cable are a little short if you don't have a spare socket near your PC. Compatible with IDE drives of all speeds.

Purchased to be able to access two old parallel IDE PATA drives: Seagate ST-157A and a Western Digital WD800. Plugged the parallel connector to the drive, power cable to the drive, and USB connector to the same computer the power was coming from. To say it didn't work would be an understatement. The computer refused to boot. Tried using the power supply of this computer to power the drive and the USB to read the drive on a different computer - a laptop - but nothing detected or readable. Item is being returned to Amazon.

Worked very well, once the connectors were pushed all the way in, and the jumpers on my old IDE drive were configured correctly as 'master'. This item is good value, especially considering it can be used on IDE drives and some laptop drives. The only think lacking was some clear instructions. I had to go on YouTube to make sure I had it connected correctly.

Both here (and other online sellers) are beginning to ask for reviews very quickly, often before the buyer has even had a chance to use or even get a good look at the products they sell. This is annoying to say the least. That said I have at least had a look at this as yet unused item and it seems like a practical unit and I will be trying it later, as I have another unit with problems that I am dealing with at present.

Accepts 3.5" IDE Drives, 2.5" IDE and also SATA Drives. (Be aware you need to provide a power connection to the drive) Drive appears when plugged into USB port, very useful for backup or data transfer.
