Hantek 2C42 Handheld Oscilloscope Multimeter 2 in 1 Multifunction r 2CH+DMM 40MHz Scope

I very rarely do returns but I returned this. There is too much noise on the oscope waveforms for my use. Combined with the small screen it's a problem for me.

This older basic digital VOM and DSO unit is still very functional but lacks the bells and whistles of newer models in this line. Sturdy, good rubber lined body. Wish I could find a protector for these DSO/VOMs similar to what is available for smartphones.

This multimeter works fine. The oscilloscope graphic is great and the screen size is just right to use. The only issue is that it has a button for a frequency generator but does not work. To calibrate the signal I had to buy a separate signal generator. There is a model that contains the frequency generator but cost more. It looks like the company used the same casing for both models. The instrument is accurate. The signal generator is not used all of the time but the manufacturer should have at least used a different casing for it that did not have a button available for the signal generator. In a way it is misleading. This is the reason I gave the instrument a 4 star rating. Otherwise the instrument works great!

I'm still amazed at the features on this scope for the price. But here's a hint.: there is a user's manual for this (the 2000 series scopes) available on Hantek's website, but you have to go find it. Reading it will save you a lot of time understanding the button functions.
