Q: I press "uv" on the remote, but i can't see anything happening. i'm wondering if remote is defective?can the filter be cleaned between replacements?

in a dark room just turn its light off and look down inside, if you see a blueish/purple glow then its on. but i also no that THE UV is trapped in its on little metal box and really has no effect on the air being sucked in for 2 reasons: 1) its own casing shields it from coming in contact with much of the air and 2) air flow is to fast for such a small lamp to have any real effect on it . Horrible product design!!

Q: Mine won't stop making a loud beep noise ever since I replaced the filter, Any one else have the same problem?

Have you checked the filter is in correctly and the cover is completely lined up. I haven’t had the problem but those are the only suggestions I think of

Q: I would like to get this but says it won't ship to alaska. However, the older model that covers a smaller room does. Why is that?

I’m going to guess it’s the UL rating. One has it, the other does not or it does not meet environmental requirements for the State.
