Q: I keep breaking the cord. Are they tough?

It is a flimsy cord. Not as thick as the regular apple corded one ( or it doesn’t seem as thick)

Q: Does it work wit the latest ios sep/2020?, apple disable non-original apple headsets to make phone calls, but everything else works,like skype zoom

Yes. I upgraded to iOS 14 earlier this week and just no tested these headphones with the Music app and voicemail. Both worked just fine.

Q: Does it refuse background sound?

Yes. The microphone has a noise reduction function.
