The waterer may overflow if the O-ring around the mouth of the jar is worn or cut. Dirt around the O-ring or inside the black lid may also prevent a vacuum seal. You may call the manufacturer at 866-449-4343 for other suggestions if you cannot solve the problem.

Turn the red base so the bottom spout does not line up with the clip that holds the base on the jug. Tipping the jug sideways on the base should allow the base to unclip from the jug.
