You can use it for that purpose, however, you will need to ensure the surface has a profile for a proper mechanical bond. Most polished surfaces will need a profile created (sanding, etching) prior to application. Secondly, Rust Bullet Coatings are not an automotive finishing paint. They can provide a nice finish, but not a finish that you see on the outside of vehicles. Although it is self leveling and provide a beautiful finish, it is not as you see on cars today.

Q: Can I use this product on auto headlights after removing the yellowing ?

Hi bob, I won’t dare use this for headlight too heavy and sticky; try the spray clear coat for headlight restoration hope this helps.

Q: Is clear shot gasoline proof? Is it wet sandable and able to put a polish on it? I'm thinking of using it on a motorcycle gas tank.

Rust Bullet is not affected by gas itself. Rust Bullet was not designed as a tank sealer on the inside of a tank. Rust Bullet can be used on the exterior, but it was not designed for use in small enclosed areas. Because it is solvent based, the solvent has nowhere to go when it gases off and can cause a skin to form on the drying coating, which could cause problems with adhesion, etc.

Q: How long will it last in the can after initial use?

Hello: Once you open a Rust Bullet container, the coating starts to cure from the moisture in the air and has an opened container pot life of about a week to a month depending on how much product is left and humidity levels in your area. You can use Bloxygen to preserve unused Rust Bullet up to six months. Bloxygen is an inert Argon gas that will displace the oxygen and provide a much longer storage life for unused portions of previously opened containers.
