Oregon 536319 Aluminium Log Lifting Pick

I just unpacked my 500mm version, and to be honest I'm a little disappointed. It just doesn't have the feel of a pro-tool to me. I appreciate its lightness ought to be seen as a good thing, given the way it is used, but how strong is the handle? The rivets looked prone to wear too, especially as it is taking quite a load, and frequent shock impacts. As others have said the plastic butt piece definitely doesn't look like it would last the distance.I'm a big fan of Oregon gear, good on price and quality. Perhaps if this was half the price I'd risk it for the biscuit, but in my mind for £55 simple hand tool should last a lifetime. My Stihl fibre handled stuff is thirty years old plus and good. Think I'll try a Fiskars, the extra length will be good for me too, I found the 500mm a tad short for a 6'3", unsurprisingly.

Great product easy to use and when you catch a log in the end grain it makes it very easy to lift very sizeable chunks of wood. We have a marina and use it to secure logs that get washed in off the river

Nice lightweight pick, looks like it might be ok if the fasteners don’t loosen with use. For the money though Oregon should really have installed a metal butt cap in the handle rather than the extremely cheap blob of plastic they went with. It’s designed to look metallic at a casual glance but is in fact very poor quality.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Light, strong, durable, fits the hand very comfortably. Definitely saves my back in lifting and shifting logs of all shapes and sizes. Money very well spent. Worth every single penny. You will not regret your purchase.

This is an excellent tool.Very handy in manipulating wood / logs. Reduces back strain.Also handy for carrying a logs.
