Q: What type of glue works best to glue this to the shoe?

Professional cobblers almost universally use Master's brand contact cement. Consumer-available container sizes are often sub-branded "Petronio's" but it's the same stuff. You can also use Weldwood or any other reputable brand of contact cement. If you aren't using an adhesive where you coat both surfaces to be joined and let them dry to a touchable tack, then reactivate the adhesive on the sole with a heat gun or IR lamp, then you're not using the right stuff. Amateurs often try using epoxy, shoe goo, E6000 or some other hardward-store adhesive. Not only do these adhesives lack long-term durability, but their manner of use results in messy glue squeeze-out along the midsole that will make it look like a second-grader performed your resoling attempt. Use what the pros use.

I make running sandals from these kinds of products, I'd imagine what would be better for a rock climbing shoe would be the kinds of sheet that come as ~1mm cushionless versions.

Q: Can this rubber be used for bottoms of dr schools exercise wooden clog?

This sole repair rubber will work best on rubber or leather I believe. I have used it on my wife’s sneakers and the stuff wears like iron. Great product. I apply the glue to both surfaces and let it dry overnight. Next day I use a heat gun/hair dryer to heat both surfaces and then but them together and apply clamps for 8 or more hours. Good stuff.
