Q: I see that it releases a set amount of water a day but if its really hot out and the plant totally dries out will It release more water to keep up?

The item pictured which I bought (the spikes that inserts into the plastic soda bottle) does not release a set amount of water in my experience. The water moves out of the spike passively according to how dry the surrounding soil becomes. Depending on how big your plant or pot is, you might need more than one per pot if it is really hot. I have not had any trouble with flooding as the spike should insert into the bottle so snugly that the water does not run out even if the bottle is inserted. If it runs out, the bottle opening is too big; maybe from stretching. Maybe the water pressure in the bottle has increased due to heat on the bottle and no vent which needs to be pierced in the bottle in any case.

Q: This doesnt come with the green adapter. I got a water from supermakrt but doesnt fit

I used Coke, Pepsi and Aqua Fina water bottles and they all fit without any type of adapter. I also used a few other water bottle brands and found most fit fine. After using them with bottles to find out if they really worked, I invested in the Blumat glass globes. They are very pretty in the plants and are easy to refill. The globes are expensive, but will last forever.

Q: So these work for plants with low water requirements or would it over water those?

I found that they don't overwater the plants. Those that needed lots of water took more than the ones with low water requirements.

Q: No instructions came. How large a hole should I make? Does a large hole make it easier to refill, or does that increase the water flow too much?

I used a small nail to make a hole near the bottom of the plastic bottle to help with the water flow - a large hole would probably increase the water flow too much. You can remove the bottle adapter to refill the bottle and cover the small hole temporarily.
