No salt. Which is good but you have to season them. This way you can use your own healthy salt like Pink or sea salt. Not a negative. To mix this into another dish is not optimizing the delicate awesome product.. This (is) a stand alone product by the way. Like something you would lay on an antipasto dish. Maybe in sandwich by it self with Eziekeil Sprouted grain bread which is healthy but sawdust like in some ways and the olive oil which is seasoned very nicely will compliment the dry and often frowned on healthy sawdust type bread. I did not choose to be a gourmet gangster food snob. So there you have it. Just don't ruin this with other flavors.

I like it a lot. It's not like the eggplant myex-Albanian family used to make, but it will have to do. Wish it was a tiny bit less oil and more vinegar. I don't know if it has any vinegar in it. That said, I do enjoy, especially on grain bread!

Served some of these (it is such a HUGE quantity) plain as is; refrigerated the rest and made two huge dishes out of them over 3 weeks! Impromptu ratatouille etc. Wonderful. Some bits are very hard so one has to chop the hard bits into very small pieces and cook longer. You do have to pour off a huge amount of oil every time you take some out. Highly recommend. Don't know how they can last so long but they do. I need a pretty large crowd for this, and/or make a big dish to share with co-workers in our little kitchen. I add a lot of garlic, and virtually any vegetable I can find, lovely over rice.

The people at Roland LOOOVE their oil! These strips of eggplant are grilled and then drowned in a lake of oil! I really like eggplant, but these were oily, greasy, disgusting sacrifices that never had a chance. The oil is impossible to get off of the eggplant, but the oil has no problem getting on everything else! If you like eggplant, do yourself a favor and go to the store for an actual eggplant, and save yourself the horror of these grease bombs.

Got my product the other day and both say product of Peru. Have not tried the eggplant yet but was looking for a product from Italy as advertized not product from Peru.Update: Opened product way too much oil. Hard to eat.

I agree with the previous reviewer that the packaging of these grilled eggplants is a bit overwhelming, but there are other, smaller packages available (from the same manufacturer) that make removing the eggplant slices easier. And they are delicate, but that's what grilled eggplant is, and if you are careful, the pieces will remain intact. Having said that, this is a premium product -- sliced, grilled, and VERY flavorful -- perhaps too flavorful for a baba but perfect for veggie-based sandwiches or flatbread pizzas. The oil is there for preservation purposes, I imagine. And the price is right for the amount you get and the quality of the product, as long as you keep the above recommendations in mind. I used to be able to get this stuff in my grocery store and people would rave when I would use it, and now this is the only way I can obtain it so I am writing this review in hopes that it doesn't go away!
