Added a 9v adapter. Works great now!!
Read about the 9v battery draining. Added an 9v adapter, had it tucked in under the terminals clips, it stays in place very sturdy.

Great Desk Mic
The Pyle Home PDMIKC5 Tabletop gooseneck mic is an excellent buy.The sound quality is very good, if not a little bit on the bright side - nothing to worry about. All other aspects of this mic are professional looking. It has a nice solid weighted base which prevents tip overs. The base encloses the 9 volt battery - Pyle could've made it to take 2 AA batteries instead, to cut battery costs down. But I have used this mic over 10 hours now and the battery is still going strong, so I am hoping that this continues for a while, cause 9 volt batteries aren't cheap. The weighted base has a power switch and the mic screws on to this base. The mic head and the gooseneck look very professional, and it has an led ring around the top of the gooseneck that lights up when the mic is turned on.If you are looking for desk mics, I recommend these over the highball mics on table stands, for both PA, conference or audio/video recording. May work well in a TV environment also.Because of the small head, the mic doesn't block the face of the speaker, as is often the case with the larger highball mics.Pickup pattern is cardiod, so you don't get much feedback in PA system use - but it is a little more sensitive than uni highball mics, so be aware of mic vs speaker placement in order to minimize feedback when using with a PA system. All in all a great value in a push to talk mic - I might just order another for when I mic forums or discussion groups, etc.DId I say this can work well as a video mic also? Great pick-up pattern with a nice clean sound. The integrated mini windscreen also helps to minimize popping and breath noise. Keep it at least 5 to 7 ins from the mouth when talking, and you'll get great sound.

Great desktop mono Mic with a loooong XLR to 1/4" cable. Get a mono adapter if you need 1/8" jack
Purchased this mic for my office desktop with a physical on/off mic mute button for teleconferences and video online instruction. Very clean and professional looking setup. This mic liberates me from having to use a headset. It requires a dedicated 9V battery that was provided with the device. I'll be sure to have some spares handy as I use the microphone in the days, weeks, and months to come. Wish there was an option to power the device using a free USB port. Also, this is a mono-mic that comes with a mono XLR to 1/4" mic input (Right channel is tied to ground). Purchased a mono 1/8" adapter to connect to my docking station. Wish the switch was softer and not a loud "Click" when exercised. An active mic is indicated with a GREEN glow around the switch and a RED ring around the mic. Kind of confusing for anyone who is not familiar with the mic...does green or red mean HOT or MUTED mic? Would have been better if Pyle used a common neutral color such as amber/orange or blue. Also, would be nice to have an auto-off feature if the mic is left on.. My kids like to play in the office and leave it on. Happy with the purchase.

You get what you pay for
I bought multiple mics for a comparison test because I need to buy a bunch of whichever is the winner. After test different mics of 3 different designs, this was the first to be eliminated. It has a noticeable hum.Keep in mind that all mics were plugged in at the same time to the same mixer (a Zoom f8nPro) and this was the only unit that had a hum.It was also the only unit that did not require phantom power as it uses a 9v battery instead.I think the Boya is a better choice. Yes it is $24 more but it's still a far cry from top tier brands that cost 2x-3x as much (remember, I need to buy a bunch of these). You can use batteries (2-AAA) but you can avoid that mess by just using phantom power. The sound quality is good considering the use and the price is still low.

Excellent value. Good sound quality.
A bargained priced desktop or lecturn microphone ideal for meetings and public speaking. On unpacking, the base comes separate from the flexible gooseneck microphone which has a 3 pin XLR. It plugs into the base with an additional threaded collar to ensure a secure fit.A 9V battery fits inside the base which provides power to the microphone via an on / off switch on the base. I tested the microphone by removing the 9V battery, and plugging it into a mixer (using an XLR to XLR cable - purchased separately) which provides 48V phantom power. Interestingly, on phantom power, the on/ off circuitry is disabled and the button no longer illuminates, but the red LED ring around the microphone head is still illuminated, and the microphone sounds perfectly clear as running it on a 9V battery. In short, on 48V phantom power the microphone cannot be switched off at the switch on it's base, it is always on, but has the added advantage of not requiring the battery to be replaced every 8 hours, or running a separate DC power supply.

Gasta muchas baterías
Ya invertí más en pilas que en el micrófono y apenas tiene un par de meses de uso. No lo recomiendo

The first one did not work, but was replaced and works fine
The first one did not work. Amazon replaced it. The 2nd one works great, sounds great.NOTES: This does not run on phantom power, needs the 9V battery. While the mic can be detached from the base, inserting a cable in between the mic and the base renders it useless.I tried running this using XLR-Cat5 kit I have and it's too noisy that way, but with an xlr cable it's fine.

Good microphone for the price.
Decent microphone quality for the price. The base picks up and transmits a good amount of vibrations from my desk (I have my computer sitting on it) up to the microphone. It drained the battery I put into it in a week, but it was a really old battery, so who knows. I did order a 9V adapter to wire into this so I won't have to depend on a battery in the future.Long term use edit: After a year of use, this microphone is still kicking. I keep wistfully looking at my wish list, with a microphone, swivel arm and shock mount costing 10 times the price of this one, hoping it breaks so I have an excuse to spend more money. But stubbornly it refuses to. I ended up placing the base on a piece of playroom/office-style carpeting to absorb the vibrations (a chunk of high density foam would do), and my before and after sound recordings show almost all the noise is gone. I also ended up wiring in a stand-alone 9V power supply (~$10-15) so I wouldn't rely on a battery. The only real complaint I have is that the switch is this really weird push-toggle style that I have never seen before in any other product, and while it looks nice, it feels flimsy and it's kind of awkward to use, sometimes it registers, sometimes it does not. It's not outright broken though. I maintain the 4/5 rating, for the price you probably can't beat it without upgrading to pro/semi-pro gear.
