High power GMRS portable radio, at a great value
So if you don’t know the difference between FRS, and GMRS, this probably isn’t for you. FRS is family radio service, no license required, and limited power. GMRS is the general mobile radio service, which has higher power, better radios, but does require a license to operate. The good news is that if you want to go with the better option, you only need one license per family, and unlike Amateur Radio, there is no test involved. You can go to the FCC website, and apply for a GMRS license, and it is quick, and easy. This is not a turn on, and go product. You will need to learn the basics, but you can get started easily enough, and learn the extra features, as you go. I have been an Amateur Radio operator for decades, and not only would you need an amateur radio license, to have similar functionality, with either a 2 meter walkie-talkie, or a few other bands, but you would have to take a test, and every member of the family, that intends on using the radios, would need the license, with the test. The test, for entry level Amateur Radio, no longer requires learning Morse Code, but you would need to find a local radio club, to take your test. Back when I started with Amateur Radio, you could self study, and go to an FCC office, to take the test. That is a very rewarding hobby, and way too much to get into, in a review, but you can have the same higher power, better equipment, with this unit, and get your license online. If you are into hiking, camping, etc., there is no reason to not jump into GMRS. You may like it so much, you may decide to explore Amateur Radio, but this gets you in the real world of handheld communications, with minimal effort. Highly recommended!

Very nice radio
I got this for use in my Jeep when we go on trail rides. I needed a simple to use radio and this was perfect. It is a very complete kit. It comes with a hand mike, an ear piece, radio, battery, belt clip charging base and even a mini CD with a programming cable. Now it has a lot of features that I do not plan on using as I like to keep things simple but they are there if you need/want them. About the only negative I can come up with is the charging base requires a 110v outlet to charge (no USB option) but as I have a large power bank with a 110 port its no problem for me but be aware. I have yet to have it run out of juice so it may be a non issue for most. This is a GMRS radio and the freqs are already programmed in so its simple to insert the battery , select your channel and you are set. Very satisfied with this radio and how it has performed.

Really Easy GMRS Radio
I've gotten into GMRS radios in order to provide the whole family with a radio when we need to (road trips, working around the property, stuff like that). This radio is an excellent example of a simpler, easier to use radio that still offers full function. By that I mean, a couple of radios I have from Retevis and Tidradio (both excellent by the way) have full key sets on the front of the radio so you can do all sorts of things right from the radio face. This Pofung has a much more simplified interface. I like it. It makes it easier for someone who isn't a big nerd, like my wife, to use the radio. She can quickly & easily turn on the NOAA channels through button on the front. It's screen is a little bit bigger and clearer than the other radios too. You can easily tell how to switch channels with the + & - keys and monitor more than one channel (frequency) and switch between them. All really simple. Then, you get into the menus to do more. Great radio. The radio itself is pretty sturdy. I know because I accidently dropped it and kicked it across my steel deck. It came up without a scratch. It has a removable battery, which is good because you replace it or even have more than one. However, it's a pain to get out of the radio and, you can't charge the battery on its own, so you'd have to swap the batteries out to charge them. Making it a little less functional.Transmission reached out to over a mile, pretty easily, through trees & stuff too. It compared really well to the other radios I tested it against and beat a Radiodity radio handily. The kit comes with a charging port, a programming cable (YAY!!!), a really cheap microphone speaker (seriously junky), belt clip, and an ear piece.Overall, a great GMRS radio. Why four stars? Out of the box it came with the PL tone set for receive. That means unless the other radios have the same PL tone, you can't hear them. It was a pain the bottom to go in and fix that. Also, the accessories are sub-par. I also found the sound quality to be a little iffy.

Works well
This radio is very nice and works great. It comes with everything you need. A PPT mike so you don't need to hold the radio in your hand. I'm not sure if you can change the frequencies. This isn't a huge deal, since it's already on the same frequency as walkie talkies. As far as the range goes, I am able to transmit and receive at over a mile's distance, in thick woods. All the buttons have a very nice press and it's easy to tell if you're pressing the button or not. Overall, very solid product. I'd recommend.

Why
Decent enough GMRS radio, but out of the box you have to either change tones on every channel, be talking to another of the same radio or change the tones in all of your other GMRS radios to match. I do not see the point. I see a lot of returns in your future for this one. Now onto the software. The instructions tell you where to get the software, which of course does not exist. Took me two days to find the software and let me tell you it is a total pain to use. You can download the radio, but if you click into ANY transmit frequency field it blanks it out and you cannot fill it back in. You have to download from the radio and start again. The software allows you to save your configuration, but when you open it back up it just seems to be the default image for the radio. I am sure Baofeng will correct the issues with this radio soon enough, but it is a fail so far. Also the battery on the radio is a total pain to remove once installed. I do love that it is USB-C rechargeable without a charging stand.
