I have tried everything that been recommended from both the OT's and the play therapist to ...
I was so excited to get these, my son is very orally seeking and has chewed holes in all his shirts and I and his OTs were at wits end. I have tried everything that been recommended from both the OT's and the play therapist to no avail. I discovered these and decided to give them a try thinking these would be great because there's no clasp to she's on ( on the other kind of enclose would Chew on the clasp until they didn't hold anymore). Within the first 15 minutes my son had chewed through the coil and split it. He still wears them and chews on them, and it's by far the best option of all the ones we have tried so far, but I was disappointed that he could cut through it so easily.

Durable for classroom use.
I use these in my first grade classroom as my bathroom passes. I wanted something the kids could wear (so they wouldn’t lose it, leave it, flush it), but that I could also easily disinfect. I had to order another set because one got flushed, one was vomited on, one disappeared altogether, and one (after a few months of heavy duty wear and tear) got stretched around the toilet and snapped. (Seriously. We can’t have nice things.) So, considering everything they go through, they’re pretty durable. They easily get stretched out, but they won’t lose their shape too much. Also, some of my girls have beads in their hair and the beads get caught in the coils because they try to whip the thing off their head. If you take it off carefully, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Will continue to use as my bathroom passes because these have lasted me the longest out of everything I’ve tried.

I think we've found "the one"
I've been on a hunt for the perfect chewable necklace for my 3 year old, who has been biting fingernails so thoroughly that I haven't had to trim them in 6+ months. I was also looking to mitigate a little a.m. drop off anxiety as I've changed my work hours and my child is still adjusting to an earlier drop off.Other options we've tried have been either too hard (the lego shaped style) or too thick for a 3 year old to comfortably chow down on (1/4" thick tear drop on a black rope AND the lego shaped styles). These have been fabulous. Week 1, other daycare kids ran up to my child and wanted to chomp down on the necklaces to test them out, so teachers pulled the necklaces out of circulation at some point each day (thankfully, as the flu was going around and we didn't want to bring *that* home). Every night I took the necklaces home and washed them in dish soap then hung them to dry for the a.m. I was hoping thorough dish soaping would get rid of anything contagious, as Dr. Meyer's lavender soap aftertaste is probably better than hydrogen peroxide or bleach.... My child didn't catch anything, so I think soap worked. This week, daycare friends appear to be used to the necklaces enough to refrain from accosting my child.General Strategy: I bring a ziplock bag with all 4 to daycare every morning, and ask my child to pick a color at drop off. Child puts it on, says bye to Mommy, says hi to teacher, and I exit during the distraction of the first a.m. chew.Drop off last week and this week have been a breeze, and I've redirected my child to a necklace any time I've noticed nail biting at home... although it feels like nail biting is gradually decreasing, as well. Hopefully we'll continue to make progress on nail biting reduction, and hopefully- since my child has retained interest for almost 2 weeks now vs 1 day for the other styles- these will continue to work for us at drop off as well. Will note that these are durable enough for a child who prefers fingernail biting. I've seen comments about other kids with a little more aggressive a bite, and I can see how these springy items wouldn't hold up as long. I believe they'll work for us- especially with 4 to rotate- for long enough to be worth the purchase/re-purchase.

Not as advertised & Amazon will not allow returned
So a few years ago I ordered these for my son who has autism because he was chewing on his clothes. He eventually stopped using the chewlry but we needed to go back to them because he has started to chew again his clothes. The originals was great cause they are durable and thick. I went back to my old purchases to order a new set. The set that was ordered was not even the originals I had ordered in the past and they are not what is advertised. The coil necklaces are tiny and not suitable for kids with autism or any kid for that matters to chew on. The worse thing about this purchase is that Amazon will not let us return this item. We bought 4 different chewlrys and this is the only item in our chewlry purchase we can not return. Buyer beware because after reading the reviews for our new purchase these are not the big coil necklaces from the past and Amazon will not let you return them.

Much better than the leggo chew
Exactly as advertised. Yes, they do stretch out quite a bit, but my Autistic 6 year old grand son hasn't been able to bite through one yet! He is very active, so we have to keep an eye out that it doesn't get hooked on anything while around his neck, but he keeps it mostly in his hand and mouth, so not much of an opportunity to get caught up on anything, but it still worries me. Much better than the leggo chew, because he would chew through the clasp. Thank goodness he doesn't ask for his pacifier anymore, which is why we've been experimenting with replacement ideas.

Pinches and scrapes
I'm an adult that just wanted to stop chewing through my shirts when I space out. These are good for keeping me away from my shirts and definitely gave me something satisfying to chew on. But after a couple of days my mouth is full of scrapes are sores. The edge of the strips are a little bit sharp (not much) and when you bite down on the coils they have a tendency to pinch and scrape your mouth and tongue. At first it's slight but after a while it's really getting uncomfortable.I would not recommend. Go for something smoother that can't pinch your gums.
