I have a 1TB internal hard drive which I want to convert to external for backup storage.Is this a viable solution?

Ignore the other responses. Yes, this will work fine for backing up your drives. The drive type for your internal drive doesn't matter unless you were planning to remove it and plug it into the external bay (you don't need to do that). As long as your internal drive is readable by your system, that's all you need for this to work. Buy a NEW drive for your backup that will fit into the external bay (SATA, or M.2 if you purchased that version), then copy the data from your internal disk to the external disk. You will then have your backup. Note that while the details specifies that it can support up to 20tb drives, it really only appears to be able to support up to 16tb drives (at least the original one without the M.2 slot). If you are stuck with your system only reading up to 2TB's of disk space, but you have a larger drive, that means you used the wrong partition style (MBR), for larger than 2TB capacity drives you need to use the (GPT) partition style.

Is the power supply universal (110-240V) ?

12v ps. Provided...do not use 12v supply with 5v drives. Some drives are ranged 5v to 12v . Some just say 5v.

Will this product support a 6TB?

You will probably have to jump through hoops to do so. I tried to run in the firmware and kept getting an error. Contacted support and they wanted me to go through some 20 step process to do so and use a file not from their website. Nobody could explain to me why it wouldn't update with the firmware file on their website that had my product specifically listed. In the end I opted not to do it and went with a different product that natively / out of box supported 6TB and larger

Is it safe to use this for media files and run 24/7?

Absolutely. I have had mine connected to my PC for 2 months 24/7, and it runs just like an internal Sata HDD. Have a good one!

Worthless junk.

Useless junk. The HDD behaved extremely erratically when connected to my PC through this piece of junk. So I went to a computer repair shop, they installed the same hard disk inside the PC-tower and there is, of course, absolutely nothing wrong with the hard disk.

works with 22TB but only as Basic drive not supporting as Dynamic Disk

I have two 22TB Red Pro Hard disk for RAID1 setup but this case is not supporting Dynamic disk. Any advise?

Agréablement surpris par la qualité de l'article. Ayant tester plusieurs boitiers hhd externe, celui-ci est vraiment de qualité supérieure et est très bien conçu. Possibilité de visser son disque dur au boitier et bien sûr le bouton de fermeture du boitier qui a fait que j'ai acheté cet article. Chargeur de qualité, idem pour les cables, support plastique dans un boitier aluminium (excellent contre l'électricté statique et le refroidissement). Reçu 2 jours après ma commande. Que du bon pour cet article, merci.
