Q: Is this waterproof or do i need to put the original ring on the camera before going into the water?

The camera is waterproof (as long as you keep the seals clean and double lock them). This includes a waterproof clear sheet of glass over the lens. This cover, like the ring that comes on the camera, does not provide any waterproofing. (It also doesn't interfere with the camera's built-in waterproofing).

Q: can this be used with the silicone cover because the Olympus brand can't and your photo shows your product with the cover?

Yes as I have the silicone body along with other brand lenc cover.

Q: can it be used underwater without causing camera to break?

I haven't used it in water but I believe the manual says you can up to a certain depth.

Q: Is there a lens barrier for the underwater housing? I dont want it to get scratched. Insight?

When open, this lens protector cover has no barrier over the lens. The camera itself has a clear plastic cover over the glass lens. That plastic cover is indeed prone to scratching. That is why this lens cover is so helpful. Keep it closed when you're not taking pictures.
