Yes, I have heard the same rumor going around about that. Yikes!!!

Q: I need cymbals that will last and I've heard these break easy. Could someone tell me how there durability is?

Whoever told you Zildjians break easy doesn't know what they're talking about! I would not take his/her advice again! Zildjian is the best on the market. There are a lot of new companies trying to catch up to Zildjian but don't come close. If your looking for durability I would go with Z customs, there're a heavier gage and can withstand a beating for a long time. The A customs are my personal favorites! Amazing sound! I have some that have lasted up to 10 years! My 16" A custom is probably the one I've replaced the most due to the abuse I put it through and its probably the cymbal I hit the most. A lot depends on how you play, take that into consideration when picking the cymbals that are right for your playing style and your budget.... hope this helped

I think it has something to do with brands also, your Zildjian K cymbals have a rich darker sound whereas Avedis has a splash higher sound. A music store can usually show you the difference of sounds and then you'd know more about what you're looking for. Sorry if this doesn't help.
