Excellent layout
I purchased this volume because these pistols are a blank spot in my education. i cannot comment on the accuracy of the text. This review is simply to acknowledge the excellent presentation of this volume. The text is dense, there is no filler or wide margins. The photographs are excellent and on point, mostly matching the text. There are two cutaway views, one of a PP and one of a P38. Both have their own page and are not splayed across two pages which ruins the detail. (This is a pet peeve of mine, putting a map or cutaway over two pages with the annoying crease in the middle.) There are also two abbreviated manual of arms, of a P38 and a PP Super each on a whole page. A well done volume: I wish Osprey would do more like this.

The legendary Walther pistols...
The Walther manufacturing firm produced a series of legendary semi-automatic pistols that saw long service with various military and police forces in many countries. Perhaps their most notable service was during the Second World War with the Germany military. This Osprey Weapon series book has the details. The presentation has lots of photographs, illustrations, and technical diagrams of the Walther PP, PPK, and P38. This level of detail extends even to showing the operation of the pistol types. There is significant discussion about serial numbering and how of each type was made, and by whom, a level of detail perhaps not of interest to every reader. Recommended to students of armament, especially that of the Second World War.
