Yes, I have done this three times now with my account. Also, you can stack codes, so if you see this at a bargain price then you can purchase it and add it to your account ready for when your current credit expires.

Q: Why do I have to pay annually

Because what you are getting is the equivalent of Office Professional 2013 which costs approx. £330 per machine and you are licenced to use it on 5 machines - if fully used the equivalent purchase price would be £1,650 - but with Office 365 you are renting it plus getting extra `cloud' storage via SkyDrive.If you did fully utilise it on 5 machines, the purchase price is equivalent to 24 years rental - if used on just one machine it is equivalent to nearly 5 years rental.
