Love it. The right size and slower flow for newborn

This size 0 bottle nipple is equivalent to a premie nipple. I use it with my Philips Avent glass bottles. I have a newborn who is breastfed but occasionally gets a bottle while we are out, and to get ready for daycare in a couple of months. I initially used the size 1 nipple that came with the bottle, but the flow on that was too fast and the baby was getting a lot of air and looked uncomfortable with big gulps. After reading some blogs, I bought the size 0 bottle nipple, which is meant for premies but also great for breastfed babies. The flow is quite a bit slower than the size 1; when I turn the bottle upside down, there is still dripping from the size 0 but at a rate of about 1 drop per 5 seconds. And with the size 0 nipple, baby looks comfortable, and appears to use a similar amount of effort suckling compared to nursing. And feeding 3oz took about 15 minutes, which is pretty close to what's recommended for paced feeding. The nipple also has a wide base, which mimics breast feeding, to reduce the risk of nipple confusion. ***update*** recently I realized that if you store a bottle in the refrigerator and then warm it, the air inside the bottle expands, and when you feed the baby, that pressure can push out a stream of milk, making the flow faster than intended. To fix this problem, simply twist the top open to release some air and allow the pressure to equalize, then the flow goes back to the very slow flow again. These work great for premie. I have a 36 weeker who doesn’t have a strong latch yet. The size 1 flow was too difficult for him but this size 0 works great. No leaking, flow comes out well. We have no issues transitioning between these nipples and breastfeeding.

Excelente opción si tu recién nacido se atraganta con la leche, yo los compré porque estoy con alimentación complementaria formula y LM, pero mi nena se atragantaba mucho con las boquillas del número 1, así que encontré que las boquillas del número 0 o de bebés prematuros son una buena opción.

I received a size 2 nipple with my Avent glass bottles. I bought these. Just be sure to check the number on the nipples because they don’t all come with size 0 nipples. Bottle nipple is perfect. No choking nor heavy flow.
