No not at all! If I were you I'd check out Lavish Baby Baskets for diaper cakes. For the price it was exceptionally cute for my friends baby shower. I bought a ladybug themed one and she was so excited and didn't want to take it apart to ruin it!!

Q: ok so what am i buying exactly?

I purchased for baby shower and was so pleased. you get the ribbons, the baby feet appliques, the ABC boxes on top of the cake and the flat round base on which to put the 'cake' on. I did find that the base was a bit flexible and I did add a sturdier cardboard base underneath. Although decorations were pretty and sufficient, I did choose to add little rubber squeaky toys found in Target. I did purchase the newborn box of 100 diapers which is not provided, and had maybe 20 left over. The cake itself was really easy to put together. I did not buy a bottle to put in middle to stabilize as suggested, I used a cardboard tube from paper towels instead and it was fine. I would purchase again.
