Q: Is the red dot/light an led (light emitting diode) light or a laser? and if it is a laser, what is the class and mw rating of the laser?

Q: Is this a true laser that will damage your eyes if looking directly into it?

Technically any bright light will damage your eyes if you stare at it long enough, but yes anything that can be called a laser pointer will damage your eyes. Red ones like this with a low power output won't as easily. Green ones will almost instantly and blue and violet ones have the potential to burn your skin, so definitely don't point those at people ever. From there you go to machine grade lasers meant for engraving, cutting and other industrial and medical purposes. There are also UV (Ultra violet) lasers which are invisible to the eye but easily reflect of surfaces and will permanently blind someone. These kind are always used behind a safety shield and with people wearing protective laser specific eye protection. I know this is more info than asked for but someone might find it useful or at least interesting lol.

Q: Whats that hole near the clip?

I have this device. There is no light to indicate charging. I don't know what the hole is for.
