Good little tool for sprinkler repair work
This tool works very well. Sometimes it is a bit difficult to get it to hook under the lip of the spray nozzles.. The function for holding the riser up once you do get it pulled up works very well. I'd give it 4-1/2 Stars!

Do yourself a favor, get both.
The pliers - What a clever little tool. This pulls the spray heads up, and holds them up, without even turning on the water. The little barbs move outward as you squeeze, and basically hook under a lip on the spray head. Once you get a grip on it, you pull up until you can get your hand around it. If your spray head came off, and the tube retracted completely into the housing, you can still use this tool to pull it up. Just stick the nose down into the tube, squeeze, and slowly pull it up. The pliers work on any brand of pop-up sprinklers, not just Rain Bird. Once it’s up, you put them around the popped up shaft, and it keeps it from retracting. I’m not quite sure what the adjustment screw is for, but I presume just so you don’t squeeze too much and break the spring. There’s no mention of it in the directions (which is annoying to me). If your system is on, and you spot a head that needs attention, you can just clamp this around that one so it doesn’t retract when you shut them off. Better yet, buy a few pairs so you can keep multiple heads popped up for servicing. The construction is good, except that the pivot pin in the middle is a hollow rivet. Clearly, that’s the weakest link. The rest of it is sturdy enough… the stamped metal is more than 3 mm thick, and the rubber handle covers are nice. The screwdriver - The screwdriver adjustment tool is smaller than I imagined. I took pictures and listed the measurements. The handle feels like very cheap plastic, and I don’t think it would hold up to much torque. Likewise, the screwdriver blade is very thin, so I wouldn’t use this for an actual screwdriver. But it’s super handy to get geared rotors pulled up and adjusted. Buying these saved me a ton of money over hiring a sprinkler guy, and I’m very happy. Hope this helps.

Essential tool.
This tool is essentially for maintaining irrigation sprinkler systems, especially for residential systems. The benefit is that you can clamp the tool around the nozzle riser and remove the nozzle without the riser retracting. Also you can pull the riser up by gripping the nozzle in the inset radius which allows servicing without turning the valves on.

A must-have tool for working on lawn sprinkler systems.
This pull-up tool is wonderful! It works perfectly to keep the nozzle raised for working on it or replacement. Heavy-duty and sized to fit in your hand. I recommend this for anyone with pop-up sprinklers.

Extremely useful for popup sprinklers
Purchased one of these last year for a broken popup sprinkler. Never knew about this useful tool. Always used a small blade screwdriver to coax the popup where I could grab it. Then jam the screwdriver where the popup would stay put. This tool makes it easy. Place inside top of sprinkler head and gently squeeze the tool. It will open and you can then pull the sprinkler popup up and grab the head. Then squeeze tool to open the jaws, place at bottom of popup and let go. The popup will stay fully extended. When finished, squeeze tool jaws to remove and grab sprinkler head to allow to retract bank into the housing. Well made and durable. Bought a 2nd one just to have. Excellent and works on any brand popup sprinkler

Very convenient
If you DYI your in-ground irrigation, these are a great help. It is always annoying trying to keep a sprinkler pop-up under control when you are changing or adjusting the head. These make it much easier. Take a look at a You Tube video on these and you will see how to use them and how useful they can be. I went a long time without having one. Then I got one, then another. Two is the right number for normal use. Maybe a spare if you lose one.

A little knowledge goes a long way
This works very well when replacing any brand of popup sprinkler nozzle. I mainly use it for holding the nozzle up to replace the spray head/filter. Saves a lot of time and money when you can do these things yourself instead of scheduling a service. Make sure you know the brand you are replacing and the spray radius. The spring action doesn't require any adjustments, fits tight. Appears to be durable, it has already paid for itself for one head.
