Union Locks 2295 2-Lever Mortice Sash-Lock 63mm - Chrome Finish
Ordered two of these and did not come "boxed" but in plastic sealed bags. Each came with instructions and templates, 2 keys, 4 screws, the lock and strike plate. The orientation of the latch was different on both.I needed to replace and old lock as I no longer had keys for them. I measured it as best as I could and there were a few things besides screw placement that was problematic. The strikeplate on the old doorframe is flat, this new one has a curve to it so it will need some material removing from frame to fit this if your current plate is just a flat piece.Secondly the area around the latch of the new lock is sligthly thicker, so rather than chisel out a wider mortise to accomodate it which I had done, it only needed a wider opening in that area. From some of the negative reviews, I see that they rated it low because it didn't come with the latch in the right direction. Honestly I feel this is unfair as the latch can be reversed and is described as such in the description. All doors may open inwards, but which side the handle goes does affect the direction the latch needs to be in. So despite getting two locks with different orientation myself, I don't need to reverse one, since one door has the handle to the left side and the other has handle on the right. But to be fair, I decided to open the case up to reverse it and see how it rates on difficulty.Firstly, the screw is a posidriv type so do not use a philips crosshead. I did struggle loosening it, but with a bit of wd40 sprayed onto the screw and left to work it's way in, and a bit more downward pressure on screwdriver, I managed to get it off without camming out the screw (one of the reviewer seems to have done this as there are metal filings scattered about). The case cover slipped off easily but I did manage to dislodge some of the internals by being reckless. I advise having it on a table and immaediately take a photo as soon as you take the cover off, most notably of the spring and the order of lever - since there is just two it should be easier than if there were 5.For the most part putting most of the pieces back in the right order was relatively easy but I couldn't figure out where the spring was supposed to end up on both ends as the spring was obscured in the original setup. The image in the instruction did not match what I was seeing - The metal protrusion where the bottom part of the spring attaches to did not exist. The latch requires the whole bolt assembly to be reversed, rather than be retracted slight back and then just the latch part swivelled in place (from what i've seen on other locks shown on a major video platform). So while the reversing process is simple it's not made easy by the inaccurate instruction images, a really tight screw or lack of forward thinking on my part, it's still more convenient than potentially shipping it back for a replacement.

wronge item
I looked at photo of this item in amazon page and it showed the spring latch opening the way I wanted it, when I received it it was pointing in the opposite way.
