No, you can hear the mechanism ticking every second. It's pretty loud for a modern clock - most clocks I see in stores now are much quieter.

Q: What is the depth of this clock? (I need to know if it can fit within a cupboard of mine with doors.)

Not very thick. But the door cannot be flush with the shelf obviously. The watch is not with me right now, it’s in my office. But I think you will need a 2 inch clearance. Picture an upside down “L” shape. The top sits on the shelf and the bottom extends down. It stays in place due to its construction. It’s plastic, not heavy metal but it looks like steel. It’s a real kick to own if you are an art lover. Believe it or not, many visitors look at it and do not recognize it as something from the famous Dali painting. What can I say…we are art lovers.

Sorry to say, but the answer is no. Additionally, you might want to look at the measurements, as it was smaller than I thought it was going to be. It is perfect for a tool bench in a shop or shelf in the house, but please do measure it. It really didn't matter to me about the size or if I could hang it on the wall, I got this for my husband's shop and it will be just fine (and does run really well) on a shelf in his shop.
