Q: Can this device be used for (3) 1080p monitors of a high refresh rate using display port? (i.e. 120Hz+)

(Note: this is a theoretical response. I use two monitors, higher resolution, and lower refresh.) According to the Wikipedia displayport article, a 1080p monitor at 120Hz uses 6.59 Gbps of displayport bandwidth. Three of these will take 19.77 Gbps, which is beyond the 17.28 Gbps capacity of Displayport 1.2, Which (I think) is what this product supports. Even if you find an MST hub with a later displayport (1.3 or 1.4) you might still be limited by your computer's displayport or possibly the monitor's displayport. In particular, I do not know how displayport version negotiation would work if one or more of the monitors use 1.2: would the MST hub be forces to negotiate the computer down to 1.2 for the main link?

Q: will this item connect to a USB-c hub and the video signals pass to the splitter?

In order for video to work connected to a USB-C hub, the USB-C port on the hub and the USB-C port on the computer would have to support DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP Alt. Mode) as well as MST/HBR2.
