Q: Can rails and ties be removed to lay different brand track and ties right on the bridge deck?

I have three brands of track and all can be used with this bridge deck. I think you can buy an adapter however, I just make one. Baccus snap track: You just cut off the connector from one end. For Kato track it is even easier. just remove the connector and use a rail joiner. To connect Baccus to Kato is a bit more complicated. Just use a spare section of track and experiment.

Q: How feasible is it to remove the track so that I can put some code 55 across it?

Yes, two little tangs hold the track. It will pop off easily. Do not know if tie spacing will match code 55, but you can always use an adhesive with the tangs removed.
