I don't think so. Personally, I had bad luck with the flashlights. One arrived with the light not working. The other didn't last long after purchase.

Q: Is the light very bright?

Not bright for outside, but inside for bedroom reading is fine. All 3 of ours, the button to turn on and off stopped working within 3 months or so.

Q: Does the flashlight turn off automatically if left on?

What's neat is it's a momentary switch...take your thumb off and it turns off.

Q: Would this work well for one of those kids flashlight books?

It should. It’s just a regular flashlight.
