Q: Is this dipper made out of one piece of wood, or is the slotted head a separate piece? If so, how are they put together? Is any kind of glue used?

It is made out of wood entirely.There is a housing in the center of the head, in which the wooden shaft is inserted.I'd think that it is secured with glue.No issues so far.

Q: how do you use honey dipper?????

When you keep honey in a honey pot, jar or other covered container, you swirl the dipper into the pot and wrap the honey around the coil. Uncoil the honey into or onto whatever you wish - no drips!

Q: One of the poor reviews on Amazon is because they ordered the 9" honey dipper and recieved one that was only 6". How can avoid that mistake?

The 9" honey dipper doesn't exist. Its a typo in the items description or something.
