The perfect little water source for birds
My "water cooler" jug just arrived and I got it filled up for the birds that frequent our feeder. I'm super excited to watch them discover it! One thing I'd recommend when you fill this up is, wait to flip it right-side up when you're outside! I just splashed water all over my counter and floor because I wasn't thinking of the overflow when flipping it. Came out pretty fast. Other than that this looks dependable and it lightweight. It looks slightly smaller than some of the pictures make it seem, but that's perfectly fine--otherwise you'd be tipping your feeder pole over. The bottom part that screws onto the jug is made of plastic, but the surrounding rail should hold just about any small to medium bird without bending or breaking. The S-hook that comes with it is made of metal.

Needs hole drilled in the neck at the desired water line
It does not let water flow into the tray until a hole is drilled into the neck of the bottle at where you want the water top fill line to be in the water tray. I did just that and it works now that the air vacuum was partially eliminated. In simple terms it is now letting in air so the water can flow. Simply screw the bottle on all the way before you drill so the holes line up on both the water tray and the bottle when hole is done. Also do not drill the hole above the water tray or all the water in the bottle will flow out. I am now going to work on a extended wooden perch with dowel rods to add to the water tray and may help the birds access the thing easier.
