I ordered this insulation for my diesel heater exhaust where it goes through the wall. That pipe can get well over 400 deg where it comes out of the heater and I needed something really good to insulate the thru-wall fitting I'll be making and THIS is the stuff! I tested it with the blowtorch and I'm impressed! It glowed orange where the flame was hitting, but that was all, no melting, burning or anything!! If you need a really high temp rated insulation, this is what you need!

I used my thermal imaging device to see how well it could take heat/distribute it/dissipate it. Applying direct flame to it I noticed the following: 1. Didn’t catch on fire! Big deal! I held it over flames for several minutes. Just some black singe marks. 2. Camera revealed it spread the heat out while keeping the opposite side way cooler. 3. Dissipation of heat was decent while it remained warm for awhile the hottest points cooled down faster and same is true for the opposite side. All in all works well. I line some of my cases for electrical projects with it just in case. It’s a good safety net but shouldn’t be your only safety.

Good thick pad and performed well under engine exhaust heat conditions, however be careful not to let engine exhaust blow directly on the fiber as it will tear it apart I wound up putting expanded metal on top of the pad and that helped a little but I would not let engine exhaust blow directly on the fiber because it will still come apart

Dishwasher was heating up quartz counter top. Installed this insulating material on top of existing OEM insulation as well as in door. Heat was greatly reduced, sound dampening improved. Used this product before as well, great quality and functional.
