Q: Does this require an adapter to work in the us? the picture looks like uk/hong kong plug.

I had bought the adapter and works fine in USA but u can also use batteries.

Q: Does this work with model# scl-175?

This will replace batteries by allowing you to use the voltage the batteries would produce. 2 batteries: Use the 3.3v connection 3 batteries: Use the 5v connection 4 batteries: Use the 6v connection This will certainly work with all snap circuit products, and probably a great many other products with similar connections.

Q: Does this not work with the beginner kit?

I am not sure. I got it for the 300 and the 750 kits. This worked for the two of those. I suspect that they all are the same. You could check out the company kits online.

This was a gift for my Grandson.I no that he totally loved it but that’s all I no about it.sorry
