can it be put on the refrigerator - Does the board have a magnetic backing
Can I write on the top portion with a dry erase marker or only on the blank strips?

Perfect Chart to Help Teach Responsibility and Good Behaviors
We love this responsibility chart!I got this for my almost 3 year old step daughter last month with the thought that rather than punishment for not listening (currently she gets a short time out or if she puts something in her mouth we take that item, so on and so forth) we would give her goals to accomplish. Since we got this it has worked wonders. The minute we got it and I explained what her new goals and responsibilities were she said "Oh no I need to clean" and immediately cleaned up all her toys just so she could move an awesome "token" to her chart.Things I like: It is made pretty well and it comes with many different types of responsibilities/good behaviors so we can easily change out the responsibilities to grow with her. In addition it can be used to teach counting and colors for the little ones who still have trouble. The "tokens" as we call them, are all different colors and we like to ask her which color she is going to pick. At the end of the day we then count how many she has. Bonus, it comes with 2 blank responsibility magnets so we wrote in two of our own with expo pens (it is like a white board material so you can mark it up completely and it will come right off with a damp cloth).Things that could be better: We didn't like that all the extra pieces are on the bottom board. While aesthetically it probably makes sense to have them on the bottom verses the top, our little one wants to try and take them off and play with them (i.e. lose them around the house or put them in her mouth). To prevent this we had to put it up pretty high so it was not easily accessible without our assistance. With a little one I think it would make more sense to have the extra pieces and blank space on the top with chart at the bottom so it is closer to her. She doesn't like to touch the magnets on the chart itself which is odd, but most likely due to the fact that she earned the right to put them there to begin with.Despite this, still giving this 5 stars. It really has made a huge difference in her attitude, cooperation and listening skills and that's all we could have hoped for and more.

Great motivation for kids!
I purchased this for my 4 year old to help with responsibilities. The chart itself is great quality. It is wood with a strong magnetic surface. I love that is has chores such as making the bed, but also actions such as showing respect, saying please and thank you, etc. This is very motivating for my son and he loves going up to the chart each night and placing a token up for each task/skill he accomplished that day.

Great motivator
We used this for homework. With a 9 year old, 4 year old (now five) and 3 year old. We didn't need it for the oldest but the 4 year old was going to start getting homework for the first time and we needed to start teaching the three year old things like her letters. At first the three year old wasn't that interested in learning letters. Then we put this up using the two blank ones to write their names and said they'd get a token when they did their homework each day. The three year old has gone from being uninterested in letters to knowing the entire alphabet, capital and lower case, and is starting to learn to read words now.It helped with the four year old, too. He sits down and gets his homework done because he wants his "token". At this point we hardly do much with it; we occasionally take them places and say it's "because they got all their tokens", but it doesn't seem to matter much whether they get anything or not. If you ask, "Do you want to get your token?", they want to go pick out their color and put it up. It helped immensely getting them motivated. When the other two get home from school the three year old will run to get me to "do her letters".It may seem pretty simple but it works! I like that it's a good positive reinforcement. As far as the product, it's built very sturdy, too. I think the only issue I can come up with, which isn't much of one, is that it's hard to squeeze all the magnets on the white board if you aren't using a bunch of different chore ones. That's not a big problem, though. We just use the bottom part of the chart to hold the overflow.I love this chart and I think we'll find new ways to use it as the kids get older.
