Was skeptical at first, but definitely worth the money.
I read the reviews on this product and was a bit skeptical at first, some said the line stripper wasn't working correctly so when I received it I didn't know what to expect. Out of the box it wasn't too complicated to get set up, the instructions are underneath the product, however they are kept there by some circular plastic caps which can be taken off. After spooling 1-2 reels you'll get the hang of it. What I loved about this is the convenience; it's a one man job. Spooling 160 yards takes maybe three minutes. The line stripper is by far my favorite; it takes two CC batteries (not included). I stripped 200 yards off a spinning reel in about two minutes. It also comes with two tension springs that help keep the tension on the line just as tight as you'd like it.Overall I'm very happy with the product and would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Better than nothing, perhaps?
The instructions are terrible, and although it is possible to correctly spool a spinning reel with this unit, it is a bit of a challenge. The spooling arm does readjust properly; however, there is no mechanism for placing tension on the line, and 1000 yd. spools will not fit properly when placing line on a spinning reel. It seems that trial and error far surpasses any help the instructions provides. Furthermore, the Berkley web sites has nothing, instructionally speaking, nor does it provide support for this unit. Bottom line is that it functions fairly well with bait cast reels, and quite poorly with spinning reels. (also, the batteries must go in upside down for the line stripper to function properly--more trial and error).

Good stripper, spooling is a challenge.
The Berkley line or reel spooling station is a somewhat useful device for the price. The set up of the spool station was not too difficult, and the instructions are permanently attached to the bottom of the station, a good idea. It helps if you attach the station to a table or bench with a c-clamp to hold it down.If you look at the picture closely you will see that a baitcasting or a closed face reel sits in the same position it sits on a reel as a top mounted reel. It really works great for this kind of reel. But I found out that my bottom mounting open-faced spinning reel has to mount UPSIDE DOWN since it sits on top of the station. This forces you to reel in the opposite direction you are used to in order to put line on the spool, or you can hold the entire spooling station upside down which means you can't clamp it. Neither of these solutions is comfortable. In my case I have several vintage Mitchell 300 reels worth the large spools, and they take a long time to load this way. This is something the manufacturer probably should have thought of in the design and added a reversible L-shaped arm that raises & lowers to accommodate both top mounting and bottom mounting reels. Fly Fishing reels are affected the same way as they are a bottom mounting reel. If they update the design, they should address this issue first and a lot of people pointed this out in their reviews of this product on the Cabela's site. There is a little bit of a learning curve in setting it up and getting it adjusted right. You have to fiddle with the tension quite a bit on the spool in order to get it to work correctly without any line slack, but also not letting it get too tight. Any slip in tension allows to line to tangle around the arm. As for durability, the plastic on the station is very thin, and easily cracked and in fact on my first use the reel mount cracked, but to its credit mine still works even with the crack. There is a hole on the bottom to hang the station on a hook or nail. There is a great line stripper included, it can be removed from the station, takes two c cell batteries (not included). It removed an entire spool of old line from a reel in seconds. You can buy it separately by the way here at Amazon without buying the whole spooling station too. In retrospect, I would probably buy the stripper separately and try something else for spooling new fishing line. I do like Berkley fishing line and trust the name, and that is why I bought it. If you decide to buy one, shop around to get the best price as there are other pages at Amazon selling the same station under different names with different pics. Then combine price plus each sellers individual shipping fee to get the best deal. Just look for the search term "Berkley Station" and that should bring them all up. Hope this helps.

Works great if you follow the instructions on back.
I will write this slow because I know most of you are not fast readers....lol. I got my first one about 10 years ago at Sports Authority ($19.95, now $39.95) for my birthday. It is still in great shape and I am still using it to remove the old line and put new line on. It is a great time saver and very easy to use. Follow the instructions on the back and after 2 or 3 times it will become natural. I was so impressed with my first one, that I bought this one to give to my 13 year old grandson, who has recently become interested in fishing.

very unhappy
After receiving my Berkley line spooler, i attemped to assemble and found the directions extreamly bad!.I attemped to put new line on my spinning reel according to the directions. without success. the onlyway I could make it work is to use the bale instead of tying the line directly to the spool which did not work at all!!!the person who wrote the instructions needs to be shot! at the present time I cannot recommend this piece of junk

Time saver
This device did what it promised! It took me a bit to get the hang of it but I did. I recommend that you start with a small reel to get use to it and work your way up. So far, I have relined 12 reels from 6lb to 30lb test. The stripper was good too. The only negative was with the stripper. It did work good, however, the batteries need to be changed about every 5 reels and the rubber wheel needs replaced after 6-7 reels. I have a replacement but can't figure out how to make it work. Directions on the package are a bit ambiguous. All in all this was a good purchase and I would buy it again.

Could be more sturdy but does the trick
Having grown tired of hand spooling everything I thought I would give this thing a try. Being a lefty it took a little getting used to, and if you're using fluorocarbon line it tends to pop off of the spool real easy and can quickly get out of control so have some tape handy. Having gone through it a few times now I'm getting the hang of it. Haven't tried the line puller thingy yet, it takes C sized batteries which I haven't gotten around to getting. It looks like more trouble than its worth. If I had it to do over again I probably wouldn't have spent the money. At $20 this would be a reasonable item but at $30 it's just a little over priced.

A necessity
Even if you don’t use it to put new line on your reels it’s worth buying just for the line stripper, I stripped 3 big pit reels full of 15lb fluorocarbon in less than 5 minutes! Wish I had one of these years ago, half an hour to fully strip and re spool 3 big pit baitrunners

Noch funktionell
Nicht gerade stabil und von toller Qualität. Die Zeit wird entscheiden, über Haltbarkeit oder Schrott. Die ersten zwei Rollen habe ich bespult. Sehr gut geht das nicht....
