Q: What is the total (exactly) width(vertically) of vesa plate? is that less than 117mm ? thanks for the answer.

The vesa plate is 115mm by 115mm from what I've just measured.

Q: Can the vertical swivel pin at the back of the vesa plate be removed? i want to modify and attach a camera tripod screw to mount a camera.

It looks to have two hex head screws that may be able to be removed. As well as a maximum weight, there is probably a minimum weight, below which it may be unlikely you will be able to adjust the balance of the stand and it may not remain in the position you adjust it too. Depending on the camera you plan on using, an anglepoise style microphone stand with either a 1/4" or 3/8" tripod/camera mount will serve your needs better.

Q: Can this arm be pushed back so it's flat and not extended out?

But both of them could swivel 360°(from left to right) which makes it could be flat. So in some cases, it could be achieved to be flat and not extended out. Hope to help you. Q: Can the arm extend behind the desk? Assuming there is not a wall in the way, how far back could it go? The monitor would still need to face forwards.
